The History
In 1992, the challenge facing us was to launch a quality company with just a handful of drivers. Well, success followed! A4 Cars are now one of the largest and oldest Licensed Private Hire Companies in the area.

The Drivers
Drivers at A4 are registered with the local Licensing Authority, have a full driving license, undergo Police Criminal Records (CRB) checks, medical and local knowledge tests. A4 also performs strict in-house company checks on the drivers.

The Technology
The latest computerised booking and dispatch system is installed at A4Cars with up to the minute technology. In today’s increasingly more demanding market, this has proved a major advantage in offering you, our customers, a more efficient and reliable service.

Our call centre is equipped with the latest GPS computer technology enabling us to see with the push of a button where the working vehicles are located.

All vehicles are installed with the latest PDA equipment offering full GPS facilities and customer ring back technology.

A4Cars is licensed with the following authorities:

Frequently asked questions

Q: Are the drivers safe?
A: Yes! Drivers at A4 are registered with the local licensing authority, have a full driving licence, undergo a full police criminal record check (CRB), medical and local knowledge test. (a badge, issued by the local authority, is renewed on an anual basis).

Q: Are the vehicles safe and insured?
A: Yes! The vehicles at A4 undergo an annual rigorous roadworthy check; they are issued with official plates by the local licensing authority and have public liability insurance.

Q: How will I recognise my driver and vehicle?
A: The vehicles at A4 have a sticker in the front windscreen stating. Drivers also have the latest ring back facilities.

Q: Are my personal details safe?
A: Yes! Using the latest computerised booking technology the records at A4 are covered under the data protection act and cannot be issued to a third party.

Q: What about the latest child seat safety rules?
A: Licensed private hire/taxi vehicles are exempt from the latest child seat ruling. For a small additional charge, child car seats can be provided, and must be booked in advance.

Q: What is the difference between private hire and taxi’s?
A: Private hire means that all bookings must be made through our office before you get into the vehicle. Taxis may be ‘flagged down’ as required.

Q: Can I request a ‘smoking allowed’ vehicle?
A: No! Under the government’s strict anti-smoking laws, smoking in licensed vehicles is not permitted.

Q. Do you have wheelchair accessible vehicles and working induction loops?
A. Yes. Please request on booking.

Q. Are guide dogs, assistance dogs allowed in the vehicles?
A. Yes. Please notify on booking.

Terms and conditions

All bookings taken on line are subject to the following Terms & Conditions.

  • All customer details will be held on our secure data base for six months as required by the local authority.
  • All prices are based on the information supplied and may be subject to changes should the route taken change, excess parking or excess waiting time occur.
  • All changes to pre booked requests must be made by telephone to our office. Failure to do so may result in you being charged for the original journey as well as any subsequent changes.
  • Any passenger being ill in the vehicle will be subject to a £35.00 valet cleaning charge paid direct to the driver.
  • All flight arrival times will be monitored in accordance with the governing airport authority’s flight information.

All prices are correct at the time of booking.

Cash Payment to Chauffer.

  • All monies will be paid to driver on completion of journey.
  • These fares are not subject to VAT
  • The driver reserves the right to request monies at the start of the journey should the need arise. I.e. should the passenger be over intoxicated.


Credit Card Payment

  • All cards processed on this site are governed by the Terms & Conditions of use of the issuing card company.
  • All prices are subject to VAT @ 20% and a 7.5% surcharge.
  • All payments will be accepted in accordance with on line security checks carried out by Barclaycard.
  • No passenger’s credit card details will be held by our office.

Account Customers

  • All on line bookings will be accepted in accordance with the agreement between ourselves (A4 CARS) and the company.
  • All journeys will be invoiced accordingly.
  • A4 Cars accept no responsibility for the misuse of this facility by our Clients employees and will charge for these journeys accordingly.
